Day 13 in South Korea/ Day 1 in Seoul

Date: 8 Sept 2011
Personal Temp/Outfit: Sunny and windy. Chilly at night. Shirt, jeans and slippers

Wow…I’m almost a month late with my entry post.

Opps.
Moving on.

Just two weeks in Busan and already….

I’m heading to S-E-O-U-L~~~
Woot-woot!

We had to travel to Nopo-dong station which is located at the last station of Line 1 (orange).
2 hours from Hadan to Nopo….I think we almost died before we even made it to the Express Bus Terminal.

But we made it somehow! With barely 5 minutes to spare.

And so we start our 4 hours bus journey to S-E-O-U-L~~

On a random note, I can’t seem to get SNSD/SUJU Seoul song outta my head :D

We reached SEOUL by early afternoon and head to SINSEOL-DONG (Line 1) to check in at HOSTEL KOREA – http://www.hostelkorea.com/

Hostel Korea’s exteriors

Living room and common kitchen

Our triple-bed room (15,000won/person)

About HostelKorea, well….what you pay is what you get. The rooms are decent for the rates and there are electric plugs, a TV, a short cabinet to store your stuffs.

Location wise, it’s near SINSEOL-DONG train station and travelling to popular shopping districts such as DONGDAEMUN and MYEONGDONG is generally easy and convenient.

Cleanliness wise, we spotted very visible dust on the bed sheets. Toilets are shared and they smell a bit weird.

But all in all, I’m generally fine with staying in Hostel Korea (since I viewed it as merely a place to get some rest for the night). But if you’re looking for a more pleasant stay, I suggest you seek other accommodations. *cough*

Once we dropped off our luggages, we head out for some lunch to ease our famished stomachs.

This is the dried version of NAM-MYUN (Korean cold noodle). But I prefer the soup version more. Way more. =x

After which, the next stop is…..

MYEONGDONG! Which we shopped til night fall!

If I have to say, Myeongdong reminds me of Singapore’s BUGIS STREET, only that its much bigger, wider and wayyyyy too many shops. Just walk around the area and you will get free boxes of cotton pad from an overwhelming amount of skincare shops.

*TIP – If you wish to buy any Korean cosmetic products/skincare products from FaceShop, Tony Moly, Etude House, Nature Republic etc. Myeongdong would probably be the best place to shop because VISITKOREA has downloadable discount coupons that you can use for shops ONLY IN SEOUL.

VisitKorea Coupon Service –

Not to mention fierce competition in the area has probably makes some shops give out free samples like there’s no tomorrow. But then again, this is just my personal opinion.

Spotted this famous potato swirl vent!

After walking around, it’s dinner-time! Since we had some Korean food for lunch, we decided to eat some other international dishes like….

OMU-RICE.

From top to bottom – Breadstick, Xinyi’s Pork cutlet omu-rice, Hui Xian’s beef patty omu-rice and my beef cubes mushroom omu-rice! Extremely satisfying!

Spotted a cute couple bear in the restaurants which we can’t resist but to take a shot with them :D

We spotted this while shopping. Guess what is that landmark?

Answer – Namsam Tower/N.Seoul Tower.

We are SO gonna conquer it tomorrow!
